Credit Union Art Competition

Well done to the children from our school who entered the Credit Union Art Competition. The development in children’s artistic skills were visible as they got older. Here is a selection of pictures from the senior room. Congratulations to Ronan who was a prize winner in the competition.

Reading Buddies

For the month of December, students from Senior Infants to Sixth Class participated in Reading Buddies. This initiative promoted enjoyment in reading. The children gained confidence during this project and become more motivated to read.

Thanks to the local GAA club who visited our school to display the trophies which they won recently. It was a magnificient afternoon and we were delighted to welcome back many of our past pupils. Congratulations.

Cycling course

Children in fourth, fifth and sixth completed a five-week cycling course. They familiarised themselves with safety practices and developed skills for cycling. On the final week, they gained some experience of cycling on a public road and received certificates upon completion of Stage 1 of Cycle Right.

Science Week

To mark Science Week, children from 1st to 6th travelled to St. Anne’s N.S. in Rathkeale to attend a Science Show. This event was organised by the STEM Education Department of Mary Immaculate College. The show was great fun and children began to understand how temperatures can cause objects to change in the hot and cold experiments.

Shoe Box Appeal

On October 5th, pupils from 1st to 6th class visited the ruins of the local abbey to find out information about our local area and completed trail booklets.

Transport- Recycling project

Croagh N.S. is a green school. We have three flags for recycling, energy and water. We are now working on our fourth flag. This is the transport theme. The children completed transport projects using recycled materials in October. We think they showed wonderful imagination. Well done.

Zumba

Well done to the children in 6th class who led the ten minute Zumba breaks each morning from September to November. It was great to see everybody get involved from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.
