GAA skills

All children are busy developing their GAA skills. Infants to second are working on football skills, while third to sixth are doing hurling on Wednesdays with coaches from the GAA. 

Green School

Ms. Wall from An Taisce visits the school regularly to help with the next Green Flag. The children began working on the next flag in September, and it will be two years before the committee can apply for the next flag. The next flag is the travel flag. 

National Children’s Choir

The children from fourth to sixth are busy learning a large repertoire of songs. They will perform in the Concert Hall in Limerick on Thursday May 18th. They have been learning songs in Irish, English and Latin so far. One of the favourite songs of many children is Queen’s ‘Don’t stop me now’.

Ten at ten

Everybody in Croagh N.S. is trying to become more active. As part of this initiative, the children have been learning Zumba dancing , led by Ms. Hennessy. At ten o’ clock, everybody dances for ten minutes. As you can see from the smiling faces, it is lots of fun. 

 

Red Day Fundraiser

A red day was held in the school on February 14th to raise money for the bus for St. Ita’s Hospital in Newcastle West. Thanks to the generosity of everybody, a total of  260.93 was raised. 

Junior Entrepreneur Programme

Fifth and sixth class are participating in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme. Their enthusiasm is palpable and  the students are currently undertaking market research. They have researched various ideas, presented their ideas to local business people and gained an insight into business from local entrepreneurs. They will be ready to launch their product shortly. 

Credit Union Art

Congratulations to Grace, Billy and Keelin who were winners in the Credit Union Art Competition in the Rathkeale District Competition in 2016. Grace also won second prize in the chapter level which is the next level in the competition. Well done to all the boys and girls who took part. They entered beautiful pictures in the competition and should be very proud of themselves.
