The children from Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class had a Christmas Trip to the Lime Tree Theatre. The took part in ‘The Elf Factory’, where they helped the elves to prepare for Christmas. They were delighted that Santa came along to check on the work they were doing.

Cappagh football trophies

The children from Croagh N.S. got a lovely surprise on Monday 21st December when the Cappagh football team and their trainer came to visit and they brought their trophies along. The children really enjoyed admiring the West Trophy, the County Trophy and the West League Trophy. Richarda past pupil of the school encouraged the children to do their best in all their sporting activities and that like their schoolwork, hard work will bring its rewards. Thanks to the boys for taking the time to visit us, and to Ms. Stokes for organising the visit. We wish the Cappagh football team and all the other local teams every success in the year ahead.

High Nelly Bike Exhibition

We are delighted to host a display of vintage bikes in the school this week. Pupils have taken on the role of researcher and gathered information from the owners of High Nelly bikes. Some of their stories are published on this website.

Science Exhibition

Pupils from all classes took part in a science exhibition and had great fun showing their experiments to their friends and lots of visitors at Croagh N.S. on Wednesday April 2nd. The experiments included examining plants, searching soil for mini beasts, creating sound, writing using mirrors, making reflections, guessing which objects would float and sink, increasing heart rate, making electrical circuits, looking at microbes, investigating magnetism, examining finger-prints, measuring lung capacity, searching for effective cleaning agents and lots lots more. Thanks to everybody who came along and encouraged the pupils, asked questions and took part in the experiments.

The exhibition is one component of the Discover Primary Science and Maths programme. Other aspects of the programme include observing and recording signs of spring in Ireland.  A nurse also visited the school to explain to the children how science and technology are used in hospitals.
